    Wedding couture is having a lot of influence on ou Wedding couture is having a lot of influence on our cakes this year, with many of our couples choosing to incorporate subtle elements from their gowns or suits into their cake design. This can be lace motifs, ruffles and fabric-like movement, satin finishes, pearls, floral appliqué, and so on. In fact, almost every couture design you see can influence your cake design in one way or another, as a lot of the techniques are transferable if your cake designer is both creative and knowledgeable. Personally, the merging worlds of couture and cakes excite me to no end. I remember my endless visits to my aunt’s little bridal boutique when I was a little girl, absorbing that knowledge and watching her cutting fabric, sewing little details on, fluffing tulle skirts, and bringing ideas to life; it was pure joy.
